In 2024, Natural Mineral Waters Europe (NMWE) published its 2024–2029 Manifesto, setting out the sector’s strategic vision for a sustainable, resilient and competitive European natural mineral water and spring water industry.
The Manifesto reflects the sector’s long-standing role in providing high-quality products to European consumers, while contributing to the protection of water resources, the preservation of biodiversity, and the vitality of rural economies across Europe.
It defines five priority areas for the sector: water as a foundation for healthier citizens, safeguarding water cycles, biodiversity as a key indicator of ecosystem health, improving resource efficiency, and strengthening consumer information to support informed choices.
The document also underlines the need for a supportive EU industrial policy framework that fosters innovation, competitiveness and long-term investment certainly, while ensuring fair and consistent market conditions. Particular attention is given to SMEs, which play a central role in the sector and are often based in rural and remote areas.
We aim for the Manifesto to serve as a reference point in our dialogue with policymakers and stakeholders on how to deliver a sustainable, competitive and resilient market for the natural mineral water industry and beyond.
