- The EU food and drink industry employs 4.8 million people
- It generates a turnover of 鈧�1.5 trillion
- It generates 鈧�300 billion in value-added
- It is comprised of 310,000 enterprises of which 99% are SMEs
- In half of the EU鈥檚 27 Member States, the food and drink industry is the biggest manufacturing employer
- The EU food and drink industry buys 70% of all EU farm produce
- Around 75% of the EU鈥檚 food and drink products are destined for the Single Market
- The EU is the largest exporter of food and drink products in the world with exports reaching 鈧�190 billion and a trade surplus of 鈧�81 billion
